Relocalize
Relocalization is a strategy that has developed in response to the environmental, social, political, and economic ramifications of global over-reliance on cheap oil. Climate change, the erosion of community, wars for oil-rich land, and the instability of the global economy have resulted from our unsustainable dependence on inexpensive, non-renewable, fossil fuel energy.
The goals of Relocalization are to increase community energy security, strengthen local economies, and dramatically improve environmental conditions and social equity. Relocalization is accomplished by building societies that are based on the local production of food, energy, and goods, and communities that foster local currency, governance, and culture. Relocalization allows communities to develop a greater degree of economic self-reliance and prosperity.
Reduce your oil dependency by joining or forming a Relocalization Group. Join the 100-plus groups world wide that are part of Post Carbon Institute’s Relocalization Network. Relocalization Groups, who receive guidance and electronic infrastructure from Post Carbon, are comprised of concerned citizens who collectively work to prepare their communities for an energy-constrained future. These groups work cooperatively with local government, businesses, NGOs, and educational institutions to create local living and low impact communities, and share knowledge and experiences with groups worldwide.
